Principles of myofascial release (Manheim, Carol J. (2008). The myofascial release manual (4th ed. ed.):
- Fascia covers all organs and muscle of your body. These structures cannot be separated.
- All muscle stretching is myofascial stretching.
- Myofascial stretching in one area of the body can be felt in and will affect the other body areas.
- Release of myofascial restrictions can affect other body organs through a release of tension in the whole fascia system.
Myofascial release techniques work even though the exact mechanism is still under scientific scrutiny (the body of fascia research has grown tremendously in the last 5 years).
Myofascial release can help re-hydrate fascia which will allow the body to be generally less stiff.
Myofascial Release can help the body to function at a higher level, whether you are someone suffering from chronic pain, constant stiffness and soreness, or a high level athlete looking to improve performance.
In each session, I assess postural pattern, investigate your daily activities and hobbies from which the pain may originate. With my palpatory skills and combined knowledge of fascial and musculoskeletal anatomy, I design a treatment plan unique to you and the symptoms/discomfort you presented.
